Our Team

Richard Butler

Richard is one of our founding fathers. He started BlueBerry in 2008 with three others and a desire to do something a little different. Richard is a Director and Shareholder in the business and works closely with both the management team and external advisors to set the direction for the business and ensure we keep on track.

Richard is a very active Mountain Biker and a talented musician, playing in local bands The Immigrants and Minor Celebrity.

Mark Holland

With over three decades of experience in IT, Mark brings a deep understanding of business technological requirements and the importance of exceptional service and support. His expertise includes successfully delivering technology projects for businesses of all sizes, from small companies to corporate enterprises. We're thrilled to have him bring his global experience back to his hometown of Nelson.

Outside of work, Mark's passion for technology extends into his personal life as well. He enjoys reverse engineering tech for fun, and staying up-to-date with the latest advancements. He also find joy in reading, painting, discovering new music, and travel.

Simon Cox

Simon has been involved in the IT industry for over 20 years.

He started his own business in Timaru and then moved to Tauranga where he supported medical systems and clinics in the Bay of Plenty followed by 16 years in Corporate IT supporting mostly Government departments and DHBs. Specialising in Small Business Servers and Business printers and is Microsoft Certified and an HP Accredited Platform Specialist.

Simon is married to Annie, has two daughters, and four granddaughters. In his spare time he loves hunting, fishing, golf, guitar, and time in his shed.

Lisa Friis

Lisa is a true management professional with years of experience across a diverse number of industries, including IT, Wholesale Travel, Investment Banking, Real Estate and Print Media, as well as running a business in cosmetic manufacturing and exporting.

Lisa's experience and qualifications make her an ideal fit for Account Management at BlueBerryIT. She started her Investment Banking career in London in IT support on the Trading Floor at Deutsche Bank and has years of experience in both project management and client relationship management.

Returning to New Zealand 7 years ago after spending almost 28 years living aboard, Lisa is loving the wonderful lifestyle we have here in Nelson. Outside of work, Lisa loves to spend time with her family, has a strong passion for horse riding, her crazy dog and Netball.

Andries Botha

With a diverse skill set encompassing SharePoint expertise, excellent customer service, cyber security proficiency, and adeptness with Microsoft 365 applications. Andries brings a dynamic and comprehensive approach to his professional endeavours. With a passion for optimizing digital workplaces, Andries’ commitment to cyber security ensures a secure digital environment for all operations.

Beyond the realm of technology, Andries find joy in spending quality time with his family, whether it's building sandcastles on the beach or exploring the beauty of nature through walking trails in the surrounding areas. This balance between technological finesse and cherished personal moments is what he loves about life at BlueBerryIT.

Hazel Trethowen

Hazel is thoroughly enjoying being a part of the team at BlueBerryIT, especially the collaborative atmosphere her colleagues have welcomed her into. On the day-to-day, Hazel handles quoting, ordering, client domain and Adobe renewals, as well as overseeing firewall renewals and upgrades. She takes great pride in ensuring that everything runs smoothly and that clients are always satisfied with the services provided.

Outside of work, Hazel is passionate about learning new languages and is currently studying Te Reo Māori. She has always been interested in linguistics and hopes to pursue further education in the field in future. At BlueBerry, Hazel is working towards becoming more involved in account management.

Andre Brink

Andre is stoked that almost a year has passed since his BlueBerry journey started. This year has presented him with the opportunity to learn BlueBerry’s internal systems, and to achieve some Microsoft and Cyber Security certifications – with plans for more on the way!

This has been a busy year for him - besides the regular day-to-day tickets, he has also been active in a few larger projects to expand his skillset.

Andre enjoys nature and hiking, exploring different areas in and around Nelson. He also loves sport and cheers on the Makos whenever they play at Trafalgar Park.

Euan McLeod

With over 30 years of experience in the IT industry across a wide range of roles, BlueberryIT is now benefiting from Euan helping the team provide a high level of service to our customers.

Outside of his BlueBerry life, he hangs out with Dixie Dog, listens to music, is an avid reader, watches too much Netflix, and has a great appreciation of Islay single malts. A special highlight is spending time with his nearly-two granddaughter, about whom he is especially gooey.

Dayna Assink

Dayna brings her 15 years of customer service to her role of operations support. Since joining Blueberry IT she has attained a Level 3 computing certificate and become certified in Microsoft M365 Fundamentals.

Currently she is furthering her studies by working through the NSE certification program. In her spare time Dayna enjoys gaming, reading and walking the Wither Hills and Wairau Lagoons that surround Blenheim.

Aaron Roberts

Aaron is an IT professional with a deep-rooted passion for all things technology. Originally hailing from Christchurch, he made the life-changing decision to relocate to the picturesque town of Blenheim in Marlborough, New Zealand, a few years ago. This move was primarily driven by his dedication to family and the allure of a laid-back lifestyle amidst stunning natural surroundings.

Matthew Fraser

Matthew is a dedicated and results-oriented Systems Engineer with a strong educational foundation in Information Technology. With a Bachelor's degree in Information Technology and a passion for technology, Matthew has honed his skills to, implement, and manage complex systems that drive efficiency and enhance operational performance.

Matthew previously worked overseas as a Chef de Partie in some very busy restaurant environments before returning to Nelson in 2019 and beginning his IT studies. In his spare time Matthew enjoys riding motorcycles, gaming and still keeping very creative in the kitchen.

Hannah Wilson

Before joining the team, Hannah's background includes a stint as a dairy farmer in Southland and the West Coast. She then transitioned to Nelson to study a Bachelor of Information Technology at NMIT.

Hannah spent a year and a half honing her skills in full stack development and diving into a solo project through which she taught herself Microsoft Power Platform. This journey sparked her passion for all things Power Platform, which ultimately led her to BlueBerryIT.

When not immersed in the tech world, Hannah finds joy in active pursuits, going for runs and walks with her golden retriever, Lilly. And when it's time to unwind, you might find her gaming, knitting, or crocheting. Hannah makes 'a banging pair of socks' and giant woolen blankets.

Kenny Stockdale

Kenny is thrilled with his role at BlueBerryIT, where he has been a driving force since joining us in 2022. He has quickly become an invaluable asset to both the team and our clients.

In his current role, Kenny leads our software development team. He oversees the design, development, and deployment of custom applications that drive operational efficiency, reduce costs, and enable businesses to scale. Kenny is keen to continue expanding his technical skillset and industry knowledge. He is optimistic about the future that lies ahead for both him and BlueBerryIT.

Outside of his professional pursuits, Kenny is an avid gamer and a paintball enthusiast, enjoying both the team strategy and competitive nature of the sport. He regularly participates in tournaments and enjoys being a part of the local paintball community. Kenny is also the team lead for the Nelson IT Student Association (NISA).

Louise Knight

Louise has been part of the BlueBerryIT team in an accounts role since 2013.

Outside of work Louise is a qualified group fitness instructor who enjoys exploring the outdoors and the abundance of tracks and trails that the Nelson/Tasman region has to offer. Trail running and mountain biking keeps her fit for adventure racing and half marathons.
