Google Chrome web browser security issue

Google Chrome web browser security issue

Google has reported a security issue in its Chrome browser. This issue is known to attackers who are using it to gain access to some computers.

Google Chrome has made an update to fix this issue.

What to look for

How to tell if you're at risk

Check which version of Google Chrome you are using. Versions earlier than 72.0.3626.121 are at risk.

If you are on a laptop or desktop computer, open Chrome and visit chrome://settings/help. If you are not up-to-date, visiting the page should automatically update your browser.

If you are on a mobile device, like a mobile phone or tablet, open Chrome and visit chrome://version. If you are not up-to-date, visit your app store and download the update.

Other web browsers are not at risk.

What to do

Prevention

Make sure you’re using the most up-to-date version of Google Chrome available.

You can do this by checking your Google Chrome settings that you’re using version 72.0.3626.121, which is the most recent version at time of writing this advisory.

When you’re up-to-date, you’re no longer at risk.
